Blues Trust History

Blues Disc Jockey Greg Sarni founded the Boston Blues Festival in 1996. It is produced by Blues Trust Productions at the Hatch Memorial Band Shell on Boston's Charles River Esplanade. The Event takes place each year on the last weekend of September and is New England's only free, two-day blues festival. The free festival is the highlight of Boston Blues Week, which features blues related events at area nightclubs and restaurants where patrons receive free and discounted admission by displaying Boston Blues Festival Buttons.

The Hatch Shell is located on Boston's scenic Charles River Esplanade. Parking can be a problem if you travel by car so do your research and know where you are going. Of course, Boston has wonderful public transportation so you can take the T. Directions to the Hatch Shell

The following are highlights of the promotional, charitable, entertainment and educational accomplishments of this non-profit 501(c) 3 public charity:

• Promoting blues music and musicians through the free two-day Boston Blues Festival, exposing the genre to a mass audience
• Established Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes and honors veteran blues musicians annually"
• Established Berklee College of Music Scholarship in memory of Teddy Bliss
• Presented free performance by Lydia Warren at Arlington High School
• Publicity of music venues and other music industry business

• Contributed to burial expense for wife of drummer Leroy Pina
• Contributed to Spider John Koerner medical expenses
• Contributed to burial expense of Brewer Phillips
• Contributed to Eddie Kirkland Transportation Fund

• Contributed to Matt Guitar Murphy Medical Fund
• Contributed to Luther Guitar Junior Johnson Medical Fund
• Subsidized artist residency for Brian Templeton and Birds of Prey
• Donation to New England Blues Society Medical Fund
